With the ever growing need in the Navy for less Sailors with more knowledge and training, the demand for more mentorship of those Sailors is eminent. The Chief of Naval Operations' directive on commands initiating mentorship programs is helping in this effort in hopes every Sailor will, in one way or another, be a mentor and have a mentor.
Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the world's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
