"Training the rest to be the best"

The history of the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School (NAVSCIATTS) goes back to the Panama Canal Zone as a result of agreements made during the Alliance for Progress Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1961. The school has since made leaps and bounds in its efforts to train various militaries of foreign countries around the world. Of the many courses taught at the facility in Stennis, Mississippi, the students have the chance to receive important specialized training necessary to safely and effectively plan and execute patrol craft operations in a riverine environment. This eight-week course consists of instruction in basic life support, first aid, mission planning, navigation, patrol craft familiarization, weapons training tactics, patrol craft movement and formations. As an added benefit to other countries, half of the year courses are taught completely in Spanish.
